What is the Betonica Medical Herbalist Training programme?
The Betonica medical herbalist training programme is a four year course combining traditional knowledge and modern science.
The main aim of the course is to create an alternative learning experience in herbal medicine, combining community, sustainability and organic principles.
This four year diploma programme (on completion of the final clinical exam), will allow you to practice as a medical herbalist with full insurance and the ability to join a professional association* (if you so wish).
What is a medical herbalist?
A medical herbalist is someone trained in plant medicine, with clinical skills, including a high level in diagnosis. Herbalists use a holistic approach to treatment and have a long history in the UK.

Where does the course take place?
The course takes place at a variety of locations in Somerset and Devon.
Part of the course will be taught at Elder Farm, an off grid organic herb farm.
When does the course take place?
Classes run from September to June each year.
*Please note, not all herbal medicine professional associations will accept herbalists trained via a Diploma. A list of the professional associations open to Betonica graduates can be provided on request.
